Born and brought up in North Yorkshire, I now live on “the other side”, just north of Liverpool.

Married to Caroline, who has brought me much pleasure and three expensive step-sons, since 2008. I enjoy walking and exploring our fabulous local countryside - the Lake District, Dales and ,if you are not familiar with it you should check it out, the Forest of Bowland.

I am passionate about gardening and a couple of years ago installed a greenhouse and vegetable plot and so discovered another passion - growing and savouring home produce and learning how to preserve it.

When time and funds permit I also enjoy learning about the wines of France and adore the area of northern Provence.

I follow horse-racing and American football and most international sport. I also help raise funds for a local educational charity.
